You can rinse and repeat if you want. The reason that most shampoos say rinse and repeat is because of the following:

If your hair is really dirty and oily, the first shampoo application works to get rid of all the build up
The second repeat shampoo works to really clean your hair.

If your hair isn’t that dirty, one shampoo is just fine.

Also, the rinse and repeat is set up to make you use more product, therefore, you are buying more shampoo, more often.

If you feel your hair is clean with one shampoo application, you are doing the right thing.

If you want to condition without weighing down your hair, use a light spray in conditioner like Clairol’s Infusium Leave in Treatment. It won’t weigh down your hair or make it oily, but it will give you enough condition to keep your hair healthy and shiny. Concentrate more on applying conditioner to your ends vs your scalp area.

It’s not necessary to shampoo twice. Washing to often washes away the natural oils which your hair needs. Thinning hair is usually inherited if you are in normal health.
